ケープタウンの白人、コホイ族、マレー族、黒人の混血のケープカラーの2人の人々の赤血球全体がS--S--U--であることが判明したことから、この集団には稀なSu対立遺伝子が存在することが明らかになった。この集団にSu対立遺伝子が存在する可能性が高いのは、白人入植の初期にケープタウンに連れてこられた非先住民の黒人奴隷である。ケープの有色人種が関与した2件の父子訴訟では、MSuまたはNSu染色体の継承が仮定されない限り、母方および父方の除外が存在し、MS、NS、およびNs染色体がHe+対立遺伝子を伴っていることが確認された。

Two Cape Coloured persons of mixed White, Khoikhoi, Malay, Black parentage in Cape Town whole red cells were found to be S--s--U-- establish that the rare Su allele is present in this population group. The most likely source of the Su allele in them is the non-indigenous Black slaves who were brought to the Cape in the early years of White settlement there. In two paternity suits involving Cape Coloured persons, maternal and paternal exclusions were present unless the inheritance of an MSu or an NSu chromosome was postulated, and MS, NS and Ns chromosomes were seen to accompany He+ alleles in them.
