Does the use of conventional complete dentures influence taste perception? A systematic review.

従来型総義歯は広く使用されているが、装着者の味覚知覚への影響に関する系統的レビューは不足している。

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Although conventional complete dentures are widely used, a systematic review of their influence on wearers' taste perception is lacking.

目的:

このシステマティックレビューの目的は、従来の総義歯が無歯顎患者の味覚知覚に影響を及ぼすかどうかを明らかにすることである。

PURPOSE: The purpose of this systematic review was to determine whether conventional complete dentures influence the taste perception of edentulous patients.

材料と方法:

このシステマティックレビューは、International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews（PROSPERO）に登録され（CRD42022341567）、Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses（PRISMA）のガイドラインに従った。主要な質問は以下の通りである：「総義歯の使用は無歯顎患者の味覚に影響を与えるか？2名のレビュアーが、2022年6月までのPubMed/MEDLINE、Scopus、Cochrane Library、https://clinicaltrials.gov のデータベースから論文を検索した。各研究のバイアスのリスクは、介入に関する非ランダム化研究のバイアスのリスクと、ランダム化試験に関するCochrane risk of bias toolに基づくバイアスのリスクを用いて評価した。エビデンスの確実性はGRADE（grading of recommendations, assessment, development, and evaluation）を用いて評価した。

MATERIAL AND METHODS: This systematic review was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) (CRD42022341567), and the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) were followed. The guiding question was: "Does the use of complete dentures influence the taste perception of edentulous patients?" Two reviewers searched articles in the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and https://clinicaltrials.gov databases up to June 2022. The risk of bias in each study was assessed using the risk of bias in nonrandomized studies of interventions and the risk of bias based on the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials. The certainty of evidence was assessed using grading of recommendations, assessment, development, and evaluation (GRADE).

結果:

検索により合計883件の論文が見つかり、7件が本レビューに含まれた。これらの研究のいくつかにおいて、味覚における様々な変化が同定された。

RESULTS: A total of 883 articles were found with the search, and 7 were included in this review. Various changes in taste perception were identified in some of these studies.

結論:

従来の総義歯の使用は、無歯顎患者の4大味覚（甘味、塩味、酸味、苦味）の知覚に影響を及ぼす可能性があり、味の知覚に悪影響を及ぼす可能性がある。

CONCLUSIONS: The use of conventional complete dentures can influence the perception of the 4 primary tastes (sweet, salty, sour, and bitter) of edentulous patients, which may negatively interfere with the perception of flavor.
