エチレンジアミン()溶液中のKBiとRh(CO)Clを室温で反応させると、ほぼ平坦な封鎖剤[K(18-クラウン-6)]の存在下、これまで知られていなかった2つのBiビルディングブロック(BiクラウンとBiピラミッド)が6つのRh-COユニットによって安定化されたヘテロ金属クラスターアニオン[Rh@Bi(RhCO)] ()が得られた。Rh-CO単位の供給源としてRh(acac)(CO) (acac = アセチルアセトナート)を用いて60℃で反応を行うと、2つの異なるBi単位(= 2, 3)と2つの弱結合Bi原子が5つのRh-CO単位で安定化されたアニオン[Rh@Bi(RhCO)] ()が得られました。この新規なヘテロ金属クラスターアニオンの構造と結合について議論した。

In the presence of the roughly flat sequestering agent, [K(18-crown-6)], the reaction of Rh(CO)Cl with KBi in ethylenediamine () solution at room temperature yielded the heterometallic cluster anion [Rh@Bi(RhCO)] (), in which two hitherto unknown Bi building blocks (i.e., Bi crown and Bi pyramid) were stabilized by six Rh-CO units. When the reaction was carried out at 60 °C using Rh(acac)(CO) (acac = acetylacetonate) as the source of Rh-CO units, one obtained the anion [Rh@Bi(RhCO)] () in which two different Bi units ( = 2, 3) and two weakly bonded Bi atoms were stabilized by five Rh-CO units. The structures and bonding of the novel heterometallic cluster anions and were discussed.
