The historic Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) has played a critical role in expanding coverage and improving care for African Americans, through provisions focused on health insurance, preventive services, and workforce, among others. In addition, the ACA authorized new offices of minority health and expanded federal efforts to collect health data by race, ethnicity, and other demographic variables. Efforts to weaken or repeal the ACA would disproportionately harm black Americans.
