授乳中のピタバスタチンの使用について、関連する発表情報は存在しない。乳児の脂質代謝の乱れが懸念されるため、ピタバスタチンは授乳中に使用すべきではないというコンセンサスが得られている。しかし、家族性高コレステロール血症のホモ接合児は1歳からスタチン系薬剤で治療されており、スタチン系薬剤の経口バイオアベイラビリティは低く、特にロスバスタチンやプラバスタチンでは授乳中の乳児へのリスクは低いと主張する人もいます[1]。

No relevant published information exists on the use of pitavastatin during breastfeeding. Because of a concern with disruption of infant lipid metabolism, the consensus is that pitavastatin should not be used during breastfeeding. However, others have argued that children homozygous for familial hypercholesterolemia are treated with statins beginning at 1 year of age, that statins have low oral bioavailability, and risks to the breastfed infant are low, especially with rosuvastatin and pravastatin.[1] Until more data become available, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
